We booked the 90-minute tour of the Portland bridges on a gorgeous summer afternoon. Captain Kevin had all sorts of interesting stories about the various sights along the way. The boat was perfect for four people; I think it might be a bit tight for six, unless some of them are children. Note: If you plan to bring your own beverages on board, you also need to bring your own (unbreakable) cups/glasses. :-)

We had a wonderful, fun, intimate, and educational 1 hour night tour of bridges and islands of Portland. That alone would garner 5 stars. BUT, my wallet went missing that night and I did not realize that until we got back into our hotel room. We called Scovare around 11pm and Shane answered! It was too late and dark to search for a black wallet then, but they went out of their way early the next morning, found my wallet on the boat, and waited for me to pick it up. Really good, caring people that exemplified the kindness of the people of Portland. GREAT EXPERIENCE ALL AROUND.

Some friends and I took a tour on the sailboat Scovare with Shane in 2006. It was great fun, with Shane encouraging the 13-year-old on the trip to help with the sailing. Now, 11 years later, I did this again with my husband. Different sailboat (though they still have the Scovare) and different captain, but no less fun, relaxing, and informative. If you want a pleasant 90 minutes out on the water with someone who is an accomplished sailor who is very knowledgeable about the city and is with a company that has been around for a long time, this is who you should book with. Four women who were with us (max of 6 people on these 90 minute cruises) brought along a wine and cheese spread and had a great time, too. Our tour left from a public park located along the riverfront trail, so we rode bikes there. Took about 10 minutes from downtown.

We had excellent weather for relaxing on the river. The kids were allowed to help steer and sail the boat.

Captain Dick and his sailboat, On A Whim, were just awesome! The captain gave us a great narration of the area and even threw in some sea adventure stories. We had such a great evening sail and definitely recommend it to others.
