Opened in 2009, John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park is a popular landmark in the downtown area. Named after the couple who donated most of the artwork showcased in the park, it is spread across 4.4 acres (1.78 hectares). Get amazed by the interesting and intricate sculptures laid out beautifully throughout this park. Many are created by renowned artists from across the globe. Guided tours can be availed from April through October however there is no need for one. Click photos, enjoy picnicking or just admire these artistic creations at this sculpture park.

tripadvisorIf you have an extra half hour to an hour this is a great place to visit. The sculptures are very unique. My favorite was the head that was made out of capital letters and the pumpkin. A nice photo op place too. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the grass is so thick that it's like walking on a carpet.
MoreThis was cute. It’s a bit of art scattered about a park. You a learn a bit about the artist as well. I wouldn’t plan a trip around this but if you have extra time in your itinerary, I would use this as a filler.
MoreWe had lunch close and walked it off in the park. The sculptures are unique. Worth the price, FREE. The head can be walked into if you are feeling inward. Very zen.
MoreFun stop downtown Des Moines that is always open. There is street parking around the sculptures. You can wander around the sculptures to see if the art work matches the artists vision.
MoreIt’s a beautiful park with “Art” scattered around. It’s interesting to look at even if I just don’t understand a lot of it. Some were definitely…..Odd. Doesn’t take a lot of time to see & if weather is great it makes an enjoyable walk around.
