My husband and I visit Mariposa Basin Park once a week to do a run on the paved paths that branch off from the park itself. Both trails go along drainage ditches : the Boca Negra ends at the Petroglyphs and the Mariposa, at Unser Rd, which in turn connects with the Unser paved trail. This, coupled with the paved trail that rims the circumference of the park itself, provides many options. All of the trails are designated multi-use. The park itself, offers much to do with multiple baseball/softball fields, horseshoe pits, children's playground, adult exercise equipment, a duck pond, and a large grassy area that is used for soccer and many other activities. There are picnic shelters, bathrooms and a large parking area. In recent years there have been some improvements as well as more attention to cleanliness. This is a wonderful get-away for kids of all ages with something for everyone.

Mariposa park has a lot going for it. 1) big parking lot, 2) very nice walking trail that surrounds it, 3) playground, 4) duck pond, 5) large open grass fields, 5) large covered area, 6) Little league fields. I walk to and around this park several times a week.

This park is so cool. It has 3 different length walking loops, horseshoe pits, baseball fields, workout equipment, a huge field for football or soccer, covered picnic tables, kids playground, a pond... and it's well kept.

Nothing great. Now I know what it is to be a hamster running his wheel. Boring loop around the flat park. It is a very small park.

Took the family here after a lengthy road trip to Albuquerque so the kids could play in the great outdoors. At which point I discovered that Mariposa Basin Park is a filthy, trash-covered expanse. There were impressively large mounds of trash piled up around trash bins throughout the park -- enough that three times the trash bins could have been filled with trash. There was so much trash on the playground that it was possible to step from piece-of-trash to piece-of-trash without dirtying your feet by stepping on the woodchips.
