tripadvisorIf you are taking this tour, please take your motion sickness meds before. Almost half of the boat - over 30 people were throwing up. It's a 3 hour tour and if you are sick there is no coming back. The staff are super helpful walking around with bags and finger ale and changing trash cans out. Even those who took Dramamine were sipping Ginger Ale. Whale Season starts in late November. We didn't see any whales but did see a pod area of over 300 dolphins playing in the wake when we could lift our head up. If you have a strong motion stomach the Dolphins were amazing sight to see and the staff were very professional about all the sick people.
MoreThis company does longer trips than most whale watching companies. They often do up to 8 hour trips that go out to the Coronado Islands in Mexico. The Eclipse is very comfortable. It's used mostly for overnight fishing trips, but is often used for whale watching, as well. It's very clean and has a full galley.I've been on this boat several times for trips. I am a professional nature photographer, and enjoy the longer trips at sea. I've been whale watching all over the world and really enjoy this company.Whale watching is seasonal, and there is something to see year round off the coast of San Diego. Winter has the gray whales, and summer has blue whales. You might also see fin whales, humpbacks, and others. You will almost always see dolphins.I highly recommend this company.
MoreI took the full day tour that was advertised on their website as Coronado Islands Whale Watching and Nature Tour - We saw ZERO whales. There were lots of dolphins, but nothing I could not have seen on the 3 hour tour. I get that these are wild animals who do not apear on command. That is not what bothered me. I signed up for this specifically to see the Coronado Island wildlife but we went nowhere near the islands. There is even a FAQ on the website that says no passport is needed for Mexican waters, so I assumed from this and the tour title that the islands were the main event...nope. I finally asked and was told the law changed 2 months ago for passports plus visas in Mexican waters. I think 2 months is plenty of time to update their website rather than dupe people into this trip. I could have taken a shorter, much less crowded tour rather than waste an entire day of my vacation. And the employee cooking lunch was rude and nasty. It took more than 2 hours to serve everyone, plus he had smart remarks for people waiting for food. At the end of the trip, he got mad about a drink spilling on him that was on a chair; he cussed and angrily threw the cup across the boat, barely missing hitting someone. This was not my idea of a good time.
MoreWhen I saw the 2 day trip offered by Pacific Nature tours on Facebook I IMMEDIATELY jumped at the opportunity. Even though the seas were choppy and it was raining it was still a great trip. Captain Mark did a fine job of not only finding humpbacks, grays and minke's but also Brown and BLUE FOOTED BOOBIES!!!! What a treat. We encountered HUGE schools of long beaked and short beaked dolphins, and PILOT WHALES. My hope is that they will offer this kind of trip more than just once a year. Kudos to the rest of the crew (Adam, Erin, Christine, Jason and Jason) for taking care of the 19 of us...
MoreMy husband and I went out on the 4 1/2 hour tour today. WOW IS all I could say. We had been wanting to go out blue whale watching hoping to see a whale we saw whale after whale one of them fluking for us. The crew was great on giving information about the blue whales and other animal and sea life.( Birds , kelp bed) We also got into a mega pod of dolphin 1000 plus. Yes we counted each one☺ but they were as far as we could see all around us. There were quite a few babies with mothers. The captain and crew were great at maneuvering the boat and spot (showing) exactly where the animals were. Lunch was yummy and fresh.Boat was well maintained, bathrooms clean. Thanks for a great day
