I take a very pragmatic, action-oriented approach to my executive and professional coaching. I work one-on-one with mid- to senior-level professionals on leadership effectiveness and leader agenda issues. As I think about key clients over the last couple of years, my greatest service as a coach is as a sounding board and thought partner, helping the client slow down and strategically think through the issue in front of them. As a coach, I tend to focus on a couple of specific areas. I am always interested in mistakes and what to learn from them, particularly around self awareness. I am very interested in decisions and conundrums and how to resolve them in a way that is aligned with the client's values. I am particularly interested in what's bugging the client when they sit down in my office -- what they're mulling over, stressed about, expending a lot of mental energy on. In terms of psychological theory or philosophy, I probably take an existential stance with a strong bias for action. I'm interested in the now, and the thoughts and decisions and choices that define who we are right now. That said, I draw on an eclectic mix of coaching techniques based on positive psychology and emotional intelligence, cognitive behaviorism and ACT, and systems thinking. I combine an intuitive ability to connect with different kinds of people with a decade-long career in corporate marketing and human resources, resulting in a humanistic, evidence-based approach to coaching.
