Family stoped at this location while we were traveling through the Saint Paul area. Store had been recommend to us by a family member who knew we enjoyed books. Store has three floors, which are packed with all kinds of different books. Wide selection of categories from which to choose, and both hardcover and paperback books available. For the more visually minded readers, they also had a significant selection of comic books and graphic novels. We easily spent well over an hour and a half purusing their shelves. Staff were both helpful and friendly throughout our time there. Prices were impressively reasonable or downright inexpensive. We were able to get a bunch of books for our family of four within less than $100.

Every time we have gone here, we find books that we have never seen before. I love to so up and down the isles and browse. They have a huge collection of hard to find mystery books. Strongly recommend for the book lover!

I have always been able to find great books at this store. A clean and well organized used book store with staff that are genuinely helpful. Good location and right on a major bus route.

Having driven past for years, we finally had the opportunity to stop and browse. To say it's a Booklover's Heaven is not exaggerating. You could spend all day browsing the stacks. There are two floors worth of books on every subject imaginable. There is a good mix of recently published books and vintage to antique books. There's even a large graphic novels section. Definitely a great stop for a bibliophile. And, free off-street parking behind the store.

What a find! While in the neighborhood of Snelling Ave (on the far western side of Saint Paul) on other business, we had a few hours to spare and stopped on a whim at Midway Used & Rare Books to look around. This is the quintessential used book store: locally owned; run by folks who know their books; meandering bookcases crammed with books on all topics; boxes and boxes of comic mags. Things were surprisingly well-ordered and the place was better lighted than many used-book stores. We easily spent all three hours browsing and slowly accumulating the half dozen books we eventually bought. An extensive art section; military history and travel was well represented too. A bit sparse on foreign language. The owners were even able to help me find a specific rare book type (first editions of works by E.E. Doc Smith). Overall, I was very impressed with Midway. It's the kind of place I'll make a point of visiting whenever I'm in the area again. Tip: street parking is a bit iffy in the area, but there's a free parking lot behind the building; turn from Snelling onto Sherburne Ave to find the lot entrance.
