tripadvisorThe Park at River Walk is a relaxing and scenic outdoor spot perfect for a picnic or a stroll. The area is filled with tall, shady trees that provide plenty of cover, especially in the late afternoon when the sun filters beautifully through the branches. There are several sturdy brown concrete benches and picnic tables scattered throughout, ideal for gatherings or a quiet meal. Grills and garbage bins are conveniently located nearby, making it easy to host a cookout. One of the park's key features is its winding water feature. While not crystal clear, the water has a natural, slightly murky appearance that blends well with the rustic surroundings. The grassy areas show some signs of dryness, but overall the park maintains a peaceful and welcoming vibe. If you're searching for the park with photos of curved trees, open picnic setups, and multiple trash bins near barbecue grills, this is the spot you're thinking of.
MoreIt's a very nice please to visit. We had a blast. We look forward to going there again soon. There are nice places to eat near by.
MoreArt pop up Friday afternoon was a real surprise. We found this while walking around downtown . Vendors galore. They told us to visit art gallery. Upon arriving the gallery found local artists displayed, wine tasting and cheese boards. There are scads of shops ,and restaurants. We were told the pop ups are starting back up first Friday of the month. Photo is from one of the shops we went to on Saturday.
MoreThis past summer I purchased a new e-bike (Aventon/Aventure) up to 40 miles per charge with peddle assist I rode it every day in the summer and enjoyed the bike path from Buena Vista Lake to Ming Lake via Mohawk which was excellent riding and great exercise I highly recommend it for anyone with problems walking (like me) but can ride like the wind. We had a fairly nice summer not very hot in the mornings between 6:30 am till 1:00 pm great for riding and you'll see many nice things of rabbits, squirrels, coyotes, roadrunners, you'll pass many nice people on your journey Give the Wave as you pass them along your adventure and always bring water, food, first aid kit, cell phone, tire repair kit and small air pump, in addition I carry one extra battery for my e-bike since it weighs 80 pounds and if one battery dies I always have the backup (Warning: I would not go off the main path unless you are prepared for these large 1/2 thorns that will puncture your tire). One other thing, if you have a friend/relative with a pickup truck on speed dial it wouldn't hurt. I hope to see you out there on the bike path this spring/summer. As a retired man this e-bike has changed my life I feel like a young man at times and it has given me a new found freedom which only cost me very little to recharge my battery at night. This winter the rains and snow levels have made this place an oasis along the river for many species of wildlife including the wild fowl it is absolutely the place to be if you can appreciate the diversity watch and seen nature it's best in the desert. I ask that you take home any trash you may have no matter how small it is it helps keep this area looking pristine. I predict that 2023 Bakersfield and its surrounding desert this year will be a historic one for this area, the last time we had this much rain and snow was in the 80's the desert will come blossom and come alive, please help us all to make this city safer for all that live here and for those that come to our town that to enjoy the Kern River report any crimes. For those that want to visit look at the area around the intersection of Coffee Rd and Stockdale Hywy it has many places to eat, drink and be merry there is also lodging and tons of shopping and everything is near the lake park by the way fishing is open at the lakes and I heard people were catching fish, use light weight tackle, also picnic tables, and barbecues are available. so I hope to see you there and don't forget to wave.
