tripadvisorThe lobby and the extraordinary carved enormously tall First Nation art and beatiful displays are worth stopping by to admire, whether you are a vistor or born to these beautiful treasures. I have always managed to find street parking within a block of the front door. There is airport style security in front now, so dont bring in your entire book bag or back pack. But I did once, and the staff is very patient. The art and gorgeous glittering art, walls, and lighting are worth a visit!
MoreDowntown St. Paul is filled with old buildings. While this one may not stand out from the outside, it hides some beautiful Art Deco inside and is well worth a detour. Visiting is free, although you must go through security. Once inside, you are immersed in 1930s beauty. Make your way to the 3-story Memorial Hall and be prepared to ooh and aah at the marble walls and gold mirror ceilings, as well as the Art Deco elevators and other elements in the room. However, the main draw is the Vision of Peace statue. Rising 36 feet, it is the largest carved onyx statue in the world and is spectacular. Unveiled in 1936, it slowly revolves to reveal a tribute to Native Americans. Lovely and awe-inspiring. There are other historical treasures and memorials in the building as well. I understand that you can take a self guided tour of this amazing space as well.
MoreA must stop for lovers of Art Deco. The signature Indian of Peace will amaze you. Guided tours are available.
MoreInteresting building to tour. Very tall stone statue in the main lobby is worth seeing. In the basement is a small museum/display area that is surprisingly worth your time. If you want some fun, go to the 18th floor to see the law library. Walk around the entire floor to look out the windows to get a birds eye view of St Paul and the river.
MoreAfter years of restoration which ended a while ago, the effort was well worth it. Take a quick walk through the lobby and see the exquisite Vision of Peace statute. Only takes a few minutes, but it is quite stunning. Also take a quick ride on the elevators, all fully restored and a reminder of the past, sans elevator attendant these days.
