Second time enjoying The Bayou Teche Experience. It is not often that you encounter people who truly love their job, with Cory it's obvious. From the best routes to take, food and restaurant recommendations, or tips on kayaking in general, Cory has all the answers. Would recommend him to anyone. If he weren't the boss, I'd recommend he get a raise. Cory for mayor!! We will be back again, and again, and again.

Me and my boyfriend went down to Lake Martin to talk to another company offering boat rides, and there was Corey instead! Super good for us, so we started talking, switched numbers and agreed on meeting up the day after since he had no canoes the day we were there. Instead he gave us some advice on where to walk by the lake, what to do that evening since he knew about a music event and some other advice regarding southern Louisiana. The kayak trip was wonderful, even though it was a bit windy. We saw a lot of alligators and beautifyul birds as well as a lot of turtles. I'm kinda happy we didn't get to see the huge alligator we saw the day before. We arrived to an area at the edge of the lake where you couldn't go inside because of the birds nesting season, but you still saw them from where you were allowed to be, and you can see them from the roads as well. I think we had the kayak for about 2 hours, then our butt hurt - but we could have it the entire day if we wanted to. We had picnic in the kayak and if the weather would have been better we'd probably continue.

If time is a treasure to you, time in a canoe with Cory is the best investment you can make. My wife and I spent a late afternoon in the cypress edges of Lake Martin in an immersion course in the history and ecology of this unique place. He put us into little nooks of habitat infested with little blue herons, black crowned night herons and of all things black belly tree ducks-a new species to the area. If you want close up photos of usually hard get birds-this is the way to do it. His knowledge of the impact of over harvest of the cypress and the alteration of historical water management is an education for even the most sophisticated environmentalist. Do not miss this!!!

My wife, 10 year-old son and I spent a few hours in canoes on Lake Martin with Cory from Bayou Teche Experience. It was wonderful. We came down wanting to paddle in the swamp and let me tell you, this was it. We saw birds, frogs, turtles and quite a few alligators. There are cyprus and tupolo trees covered in Spanish moss where we paddled. Sometimes the trees were thick, sometimes not. Cory was kind, understanding and so very knowledgeable. He knows a lot about the flora and fauna as well as history of the area. We had two canoes he had modified to make them more stable. The paddling wasn't hard at all. If you are in the area and want to spend a few very interesting hours, don't pass this up!
