A guy at a different bar told me about this place, so I had to see it my last night in town. It’s the definition of a dive bar- laid back locals, a decent bartender, and dimly lit. Beer selection is decent, and they had the game on. Bathroom has seen better days, but I’ve been in much, much worse.If you go in not expecting a world class place, you’ll have a good time.

The Top Hat is the best...it is what it is....a super clean dive bar that serves an excellent drink. Anytime you make your way to Sioux Falls - include a trip to the Top Hat - you won't be disappointed. And if Dez is working - bonus!

This is a mainstay dive bar in downtown SF. I've been a few times way back in time. My most recent trip was a few days ago. It hasn't changed in ten years. The bar, while a non-smoking bar, reeks of cigarettes as you when you open the door. No one is smoking, it's just that these little bars of yesteryear can't seem to lose the scent after previous decades of smokers passed through the door. The people watching here is some of the best in SF. You seem to find someone from every walk of life here. Hipsters sipping on their PBRs, a quick drop in from a bachelorette party, professional drinkers who have probably spent more of their life on a barstool in Top Hat than they have at their day job... Anyway, it's ridiculously fun. It's like a time warp being able to step back into the 90s and see the bar with the same decor and probably even the same drinkers... I am looking forward to my visit in another decade to see how much it hasn't changed. ... again...
