tripadvisorGuide drives. Room for 6. Drives through Los Alamos National Lab and explains what’s done in various buildings and what specific structures were used for; see Oppenheimer house, bath tub row, ski slope, wildlife. This was a short, fascinating tour. I’ve always been curious about the lab area. I got a Los Alamos National Lab shirt inside the Bradbury museum where we met our guide!
MoreGeorgia is uniquely qualified to run this comprehensive tour being almost a native whose father and husband both worked here for many years. The tour starts right on time in front of the Bradbury Science Museum and runs a full 1 1/2 hours through town and the surrounding beautiful countryside so you get twice the overview. Georgia almost never stops for breath though her monologue is far from boring or repetitive; it's stimulating, full of modern fact and historical context, further heightened by views from a distance of one of the complexes nestled among some of the most beautiful terrain in all America. We were seven in all and fit quite comfortably in her van seating seven. Georgia's tour adds depth to the displays in the museum.
MoreHad a very good tour with Georgia today. She pulled up to the pick up spot in front of the Bradbury Science Museum exactly at 1:30. Her yellow van could hold 10 but there were 6 of us. Georgia was born and raised in Los Alamos and had lots of history, tales and sites to show us. Was well worth the $25 for the overview and information. I think it really is important to have this overview to make sense of the history of the area. Thank you Georgia!!
MoreThe company is now called Atomic City tours. The tour is more than just about the Manhattan Project. Georgia is a local historian who will give you a tour of the Los Alamos atomic project wort but also the history of the area. We enjoyed the tour and learned a lot from Georgia. I wish there was more of the historical site left from the 40’s but got to see more about the current work done in Los Alamos today. Well worth the money and time spent on this tour
MoreI took the 90 minute tour with Georgia and one other passenger on our recent visit to Los Alamos. While my husband spent his time in the museum I chose to learn more about the history of the town and the area. The tour did not disappoint. Georgia grew up in the area and was very knowledgeable about the history of the town and the Manhattan Project. My only complaint was that I did not think it was really worth $25. I noticed that two years ago the price was $15. Maybe that explains why there were only two of us on the bus!
