It’s such a great experience, don’t walk by the building, go inside. There a free tours available. I’m pretty sure that the Tiffany glass dome is the single most photographed part of this building, but why not?

Great story about the 10,000 books donated to the children of Chicago by the queen of England. Stonework is immaculate and of course the Tiffany dome is quite spectacular. While the actual books are stored elsewhere this building is worth a visit just for the craftsmanship.

if you are in the vicinity and have a moment please make sure you check this place out, always stuff going on, and fascinating structure to visit and admire the construction.

We learned about the library during a bus tour. Peaked by curiosity, we searched for the location and found it near our hotel (Palmer House...a great place to stay, by the way). The entrance and the dome are breathtaking. It is no longer an active library, but while we were there they had an art exhibit towards the back of the building. Try to make it a must see (you may only be there a half an hour, but it is worth it). It is located right off Michigan Ave and close to Mellienium Park, so add it to the agenda while you are out visiting the Bean (aka Cloud Bridge).

I thought the building was a train depot when I first saw it. This is the most architecturally impressive Library I have ever seen. Escalators and elevators help with nine floors of browsing. The top floor atrium hosts wonderful light.
