Peter standing in front of brand new Circuit Breaker Panels. Nice job, Guys!
Good job, guys!
Inside, the 50+ year old first-generation circuit breaker panels would never pass inspection today.
After: Each condo has a brand new 40 circuit panel and a 200 Amp service, providing plenty of capacity for safe, modern living!
After: Bring on the home offices, microwaves and air conditioners! This building is up to snuff with plenty of power for 2009!
OUtside/meter.
Before: The electrical service on this 3 flat building would not even be adequate for a single family home.
Peter McCarthy Electric Electrician

I can only do HYDE PARK, Woodlawn and Kenwood work. I am so grateful for all the calls, jobs and kind words from Yelpers! But as a one-man operation, I get overwhelmed sometimes. Thank you! I just can't service all the calls. I have to confine my work to Hyde Park, Kenwood and Woodlawn for now. I specialize in the intricate wiring found in older buildings. I have 30+ years of experience in electrical systems dating from the 1890s through the new millennium. Updating vintage wiring is my specialty, but I am well practiced in designing and installing power and lighting systems for your new kitchens or baths. Service upgrades, whole house rewires, condominium conversions and EV Charging Stations are all routine jobs for us. But I am happy to do smaller jobs such as repairing outlets, switches, and lights: adding ceiling fans or fixtures. Complicated trouble-shooting scenarios that require extensive knowledge and experience with1880s-1930s 1st and 2nd generation wiring systems are my SPECIALTY! My Great-grandfather came down from Canada in 1892 to work on the Columbian Exposition (Electric Lighting's Coming-out Party!) and remained to be a charter member of the Chicago Electrician's union. His son, W. J. O'Brien, my grandfather, became one of the most prominent electrical contractors after WW2. My father ran the Prudential Building in 1955.The Rosemont Horizon Stadium was his last big job. I am PROUD to be 4th generation Chicago electrician!
