tripadvisorHad a fabulous time celebrating my birthday weekend at J Draper Glass. Jermie, Brandie, and Olivia were wonderful to work with. Their gallery is clean and bright. The lighting displayed the art glass of these young ladies to the best advantage. Many lovely pieces to choose from in a wide price rangeI drove down from Chicago to Peoria to take private lessons making three different projects. I made a vase, fruit bowl and a platter. They helpful in customizing the vase so it would be able accomodate a large sunflower. They also customized a color blend of glass that I wanted for the fruit bowl and vase. I loved how the class was a team effort. I felt that it was worth the 2 1/2 hour drive it took me to get here. Jeremie, Brandie and Olivia thanks for making this a birthday I will never forget. Hopefully I can come back and work with you again some day
MoreJ. Draper Glass studio is an enjoyable place to visit and get acquainted with the unique and creative process of hand blown, colorful glass creation.Located in the old-times looking building on N Sheridan Rd (close to Main St), the studio is very spacious, the high ceilings provide an extra interior volume and air circulation -- so necessary for the high temperature equipment (urns, ovens), involved in the glass-blowing operations. The studio was properly ventilated, and I felt comfortable. I was lucky to have a chance to talk to a very hospitable and friendly staff member Olivia, to watch her work, and to see some early stages of the hot-blown glass formation. I think, Olivia was making a glass flower! The studio interior also includes the gallery, the exhibits for sale -- both the ones made of glass, and also the brand-labeled merchandise. I was very glad, that I could take some photos of the studio and its layout.J. Draper Glass also organizes classes, tours and workshops, the schedule of those is regularly updated in the studio and online. There were many beautiful items I saw : the colorful glass vases, bowls, ornaments, paperweights, hummingbird feeders (!), flowers -- all exhibited in various parts of the studio, that also must be an excellent place to buy a unique, original, handmade gift. Thanks so much for the genuine welcome, I will visit your studio again!
