As one of the few remaining free zoos in the United States and the third largest, the St. Louis Zoo is a day full of discovery and exploration. Open year-round, this spacious zoo offers visitors the chance to get up close and personal with many of the animals. Some areas of the zoo do require an entrance fee such as the Sea Lion Show, Children's Petting Zoo area, Safari Tours, and Stingray Encounter at Caribbean Cove.

tripadvisorThis is an excellent zoo! The viewing areas provided ample opportunities to see the animals often without any obstructions. We took a behind the scenes tour at the grizzly bears, Huck and Finley. Sarah was our guide and did an outstanding job explaining the bears food intake, care and personalities. Would highly recommend this behind the scenes tour or any others to enrich your zoo experience!
MoreWe had a great visit to the St. Louis Zoo and were genuinely impressed by what a fantastic attraction it is.Located within beautiful Forest Park, the zoo has so much to see, with a wide variety of animals and plenty of space to explore. It’s a great day out for visitors of all ages, whether you’re travelling as a couple, with friends or as a family. Quite a lot of walking involved so wear comfy shoes and bring water - filling stations available throughout the zoo. There is also a train available that had some stops if you couldn’t walk too far. We particularly enjoyed the variety of exhibits and the opportunity to see so many different animals. The on-site café was also a great addition, providing a convenient place to stop for food and refreshments during our visit. The biggest surprise, however, was discovering that entry to the zoo is completely free! Considering the size of the attraction and everything there is to see and do, we couldn’t believe it didn’t cost anything.A really enjoyable experience and definitely worth visiting if you’re in St. Louis. Highly recommended for all ages!
MoreVery nice zoo, well kept. Older zoo, quite bit walking, not too many indoor habitats. Take train as worth $8 cuz makes four stops and u can use all day to go exhibit to exhibit. Lots of foliage and shade and places to sit. Nice gift shop. Plenty of eateries. Didn’t try any. Elephants, Komodo dragon and monkeys really cool.
MoreWe love this zoo! Despite having to park quite a way from the zoo due to the parking lots being full, the zoo itself wasn't crowded. It is well laid out so it's a pleasant experience for all visitors. The railroad staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time. The new outdoor monkey enclosure is so much fun. Great variety of animals and lots of things to do for people of all ages. The admission fee is also perfect. The admission is free but you do pay for parking if you use their lots.
MoreI go to a lot of zoos and this is a premier experience. We went on one of the hottest, most crowded days off the year and it was still fun. The animals are generally lively and easy to see. The staff was premier, always smiling and willing to answer any questions you might have about the zoo or the animals. The variety, options available and beautiful park made this a great experience. Go and recommend this to your friends!
