We attended wedding reception at Missouri Athletic Club. We didn’t stay overnight there but it was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the bar while we were waiting for the wedding party arrive. In the bar we had good service, the southwest egg rolls were great and the service was good. At the reception dinner, the service was excellent.

We stayed at the hotel for a wedding. There is no malice in this review, only the desire to give the hotel management a real feel for what it was like for us to stay in the hotel as guests. To preface this, the Missouri Athletic Center did an absolute bang-up job on the wedding reception and dinner. The reception was 5 stars across the board- the ballroom, tables, decorations, flowers, food, etc.- all amazing. We had a wonderful time. The hotel room and service side of things, however, came no where close to 5 stars. We stayed in the hotel two nights. On our second day, the night before the wedding reception, we attended the outdoor Japanese Festival in nearly 100 degree weather. When we returned to our room around 2:00 pm, hoping to take a shower and get ready for the wedding, where we needed to show up for pictures around 3:45 pm, 1) our room had not been cleaned. We had to shower and get ready for the wedding in 2) a dirty bathroom using dirty towels. Unacceptable. Especially, for 2:00 pm. In addition, the shower did not drain so we had to 3) shower in a 3-inch deep puddle of water (see pics). We contacted the front desk and told them. They said they would fix it, but they did not. We showered the next morning, again, in a 3-inch puddle of water, 4) it was nearly impossible to get ready in the bathroom as there is 5) no vanity in the bathroom proper (see pics). Items kept falling on the floor and my husband was especially frustrated because there was no place to put his hygiene bag and shaving cream while he was trying to shave, 6) outside of the bathroom, as far we could tell, there was no way to regulate the temperature in the room, which was problematic with 100 degree temperatures outside- the lack of temperature regulation in the room felt archaic, 7) the decor in the room may have been posh in the 90s (maroon and forest green), but it is not now- the furniture is scraped and old- it definitely needs replacing, and finally, 8) the thing that took the most away from a 5 star feeling was the sheer lack of attention to detail in the room- paint was splattered, furniture was chipped, molding was slipping and in one corner, pipes were literally sticking out of the wall (see pics). The MAC definitely needs to direct more of their revenue to their hotel so that the wedding experience for guests isn't 5 star in the ballroom and 2 stars in the hotel. Honestly, if you are planning to stay for a wedding, I'd recommend staying at the Marriott up the street and then walking down for the wedding at the MAC. Again, no malice here, just wanted management to know what a stay was really like in the hotel in hopes that they will give the hotel side of the establishment more love and attention.P.S. The front desk loaned us a steamer for our dresses (which was kind of them), but when we opened it up, it was full of mold inside (just FYI).

This is a private club that rents out rooms to the public. The lobby is old-school classy, with wood paneling and dark leather sofas. Being an older building, my room was on the small side, but it was clean and perfectly fine for a short stay. The air conditioner is odd in that it's always running; the only thing you can control is how much the vent is open. Nevertheless, I was comfortable both day and night during a sweltering heat wave. Service was welcoming and friendly. The location is terrific. It's just a couple blocks away from both Gateway Arch National Park and the Convention Center. MetroLink light rail is also close by. For the price, this was a great, simple stay in a cool club.

Lovely hotel with wood throughout. When we arrived we found the parking at the back, which you have to pay extra for. It's like a multi-storey although you walk out of the car park and into the back door of the hotel. We opted not to pay additionally for breakfast as we reckoned could find somewhere local. Very friendly especially when my wife was convinced she did not have a hair dryer. It was here that I thought I lost my keys to my case and I asked a member of staff to come to my room and snap the lock. Luckily I found the keys again. The rooms were lovely although the air conditioning kept them very cool. Just before we arrived here the outskirts of the city experienced a tornado which caused a lot of damage. However, when we were there everything was very quiet.

Very lucky to have stayed here. Such a “regal” place to stay with old fashioned charm and standards. Well located two blocks from the Arch. Just a treat to stay a night here whilst doing route 66. Don’t take it on face value-doesn’t look much from the outside. But once you step thru those revolving doors….wow!
