In August 2026, we reserved a VW Jetta from Budget Car Rental in St. Louis at the 10482 Natural Bridge Rd location.My reserved vehicle was not available so agent presented us with an Equinox. We were not given any documents at that time or I would have challenged the Fuel Out stated on the final receipt as it showed FULL at rental time. When leaving Budget, my wife and I noticed it had only 3/4 fuel. We put only 32 miles on it in 5 days as we were at a convention location.When returning I stopped at a Circle K and generously put 3 gallons in putting the fuel gauge at FULL. When I received the final receipt next day by email I noticed they charged me an extra $24.18 for fuel, which means I was charged a total of over $35 for driving just 32 miles. I called Budget Customer Care and they were not receptive to my dispute.I will NEVER recommend or use Budget or Avis again. They are CORRUPT and deceit customers.

Absolutely horrible.They rented my daughter and son-in-law a car with bald tires and then charged for roadside assistance when they had to have it towed back to the rental place.This is dangerous and irresponsible and someone could have been seriously injured.Budget and everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves.

A couple years back I rented from Budget when we flew to Denver. We arrived close to midnight due to delays. When we arrived the line was very long. They only had electricity cars or large vans. I was fine with either. We waited for almost 2 hours. We finally got an electric car and it had 20 miles left on the charge. It was enough to get to the hotel. The next morning we charged the car. When I returned the car therefore a lot of cars waiting. I asked a person if I needed to do anything and I was told no. Two weeks later I received a message that the car had not been returned. Thankfully I had a picture of the car in their lot.On March 24, i booked a reservation through Car Rental 8 with a June 13 pickup. When we arrived at the pickup location we were told by the counter person that the return location had been permanently closed by Budget. They could not release the car. I called customer service. Customer service said they could not modify the drop off location. If i dropped off at a different location i would be charged extra. We could not reach anyone at Car Rental 8. The Budget solution was to cancel my reservation and book a new reservation. The original reservation was $911. The new reservation was $1600. We were stuck at the airport. It felt very much like fraud.We arrived at our drop off location. We spoke to a different family that rented from Budget. When they arrived at the airport they dropped the keys. They called Budget to tell them where the car was. Customer service refused to speak to the wife because the reservation was under her husband's name. They made their reservation in January.In the months between booking and completing there was no communication from Budget. I understand that situations change but to not allow for any modification and to extort travelers for more money is unacceptable business practices.

Horrendous AVOID at all costs CRIMINAL activity as well. This is the worst place I have ever done business with in my life. Not only was the service terrible but they are also CRIMINALS that billed us for over $3000 for what was a $400 bill. They lied and charged our credit card for driving the vehicle over 30,000 miles in a week. Thankfully we had mile IQ on our phones and could show that we drove less than 300 miles while in St Louis visiting family. This is a CRIMINAL operation, and they should be charged with felony theft. Talk about inmates running the asylum. They give N. St Louis the corrupt bad reputation it already has. They make East St Louis IL look good. AVOID this place at all costs!

Avoid this branch of Budget at the airport. All the reviews were spot on. First off the wait time was very long. The staff will talk fast and tell you that your cost is one amount all in and then trick you into signing for insurance that you already have with your full tort personal insurance. I was charged several hundred extra dollars and I filled up the tank and was charged $17.17 extra! The SUV was new BUT the interior smelled like a complete ashtray. The windows and side mirrors looked like they were cleaned by antifreeze of some sort and were completely hazardous. I will never EVER rent from that budget rental again.
