We visited just after Christmas, and had such a great time! The stickers on the rolling ladder are hilarious (go and see for yourself!)

They had a few nice holiday items and their usual good selection of new books, Maine-related books, stationery, and odds and ends. Their Children's section is its own room with loads of books and games.

Very quaint bookstore located on a beautiful street in the heart of the Old Port of Portland Maine. Very nice collection of books and gifts with something for everyone on your list. Just about two blocks up from Commercial Street so it only takes a couple minutes to find and it’s surrounded by great restaurants, bars and shops.

This is a good bookstore with a wide selection of titles, plus a lot of extra stuff (cards, journals, puzzles, etc). Helpful staff, street parking. Support your local Independent Bookseller. The Oldest Bookseller in Maine!

I was looking for a guidebook on Nova Scotia, and the only one they had was a Moon guide of the Maritimes (Nova Scotia, PEI, and New Brunswick). I wanted a travel guide that focused only on Nova Scotia so that it would have more information and detail. I was surprised they didn't have one, seeing that Nova Scotia is so close. They have a good selection of USA travel guides but their small bookscase of international travel guides isn't the greatest. Otherwise, it's a nice bookstore. Sherman's has several stores throughout Maine and they're known as 'Maine's Oldest Bookstore'.
