tripadvisorThis is a relatively small cathedral built in the 1880s. It was built in a traditional style, with tall stained-glass windows and topped with a golden dome and cupola. One of the unique elements is the modern glass sculpture, Mother of the Universe.
MoreWe selected Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Sunday Mass during our visit to Kansas City. Though the Church has obviously been there a long time, it has been modernized. It is a beautiful synthesis of the old and the new. Seating is both in front of and behind the altar. The community is very welcoming. We even saw a friend from St. Louis. We are glad we chose this Cathedral.
MoreThis is a gorgeous gold domed cathedral. Covid requires checking in and masking for masses. It’s worth a stop to go in and pray for everybody with covid!
MoreVisited Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception while attending a Christmas Mass. The cathedral itself is beautiful, but the front does not have a grand entrance in that there are no grand stairs leading up to the front main door. Entrance is from the sides. But, the front façade is grand looking with the gold-leafed dome. The interior is lovely, but a little unusual. The stage is in the middle of the hall, and masses are conducted from here with people sitting in the front and some in the back. The hall is very well lighted with beautiful large stained gall windows. Lovely religious artworks are displayed throughout. This is a beautiful well maintained cathedral.
MoreThe cathedral square towers has roaches !! Don’t let your loved ones live there ... it’s elder abuse and neglect !!! This building is infested with roaches ... first day of move in was enough to make your stomach turn. Roach egg cases under frig and stove when pulled out and black liquid Lord knows what that was under stove.. the apartment was a filthy mess .. black marks on walls, tub was filthy and drain had caulk and or paint all Clogged in it with no stopper.. wall paint ripped off along baseboard.. kitchen cabinets were enough to make you cry. Old and filthy dirty with food all stuck to them.. roach droppings were in feezer and frig on move in day.. 3 live roaches were seen in move in day.. Jan the property manager will lie to you about everything .. do not trust her. She said that she has electric bug repellers in her apartment and she even had one in her office ... BUT .. she said she has never had a bug !!! Yeah right !! Dalmatk the company that manages all of the senior catholic charities apartment buildings in KC will not help residents with anything they only care about money and not humans!! This is elder abuse and neglect !!! I bet the nuns don’t live there.. after asking 15 residents only 2 said they do not have roaches and 1 said that she has electric bug plug ins and has only been there for a few months.. a few residents told me that that spray every night around the stove and refrigerator before going to bed . This is sickening and it needs to be stopped ... stand up for the vulnerable elderly !! Spraying poison is only bandaiding the problem .. the roaches will run from one floor to the other and one apartment to the other.. they will never go away and they carry diseases! HUD is another money maker and is resistant as cokariaches when trying to get them to help these poor people !! It is amazing what the love of money can do ... at the cost of lives !! Oh! And broken elevator and no hot water for hours at a time!!
