We wanted to see this Frank Lloyd Wright designed church while we were in Kansas City. This church is located on a very busy intersection and parking is on the street in the residential area behind. I have to say initially, I didn’t recognize anything FLW inspired about the outside. We called ahead and I’m glad we did because the doors were locked. I guess I just thought church doors were open all the time. The feeling I got from the inside is that the church is in need of a lot of updating and suffering from lack of funding like a lot of churches these days. The Sanctuary is reminiscent of Wright, but I don’t know if the church has been modified over the years or what, because it just wasn’t special or beautiful. Don’t be disappointed if you miss this FLW building.

We had wanted to worship with the folks at this Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Community Christian Church but had to stay overnight 2 hours away. We arrived after services were over and most members had departed. We expected that we were only going to be able to walk around the outside and snap a few photos. The maintenance man spotted us as he was locking the doors and invited us in. He supplied us with a map and tour directions and set us about on our own, and told us to take as many photos as we wanted! It is a marvelous building and the warm welcome was astounding!
