tripadvisorNice sweet day trip to this little park. Good average playground for kiddos. Was disappointed that there were no full hook up sites for rv’s/travel trailers. Only water/electric. Seems to be the theme for MO state parks. Very clean. Nice entrance/drive. Good picnic spot.
MoreSwimming beach was unsanitary. Covered in feces across the entire shoreline. Regulars said it’s a common thing there. Pics attached.
MoreI just stopped here for a short visit, but I was impressed with the activities that were available here. You can off road, hike, fish or camp and picnic. There is even races on the weekend for off readers. The camp host was very nice and helpful.
MoreThe sand at the entrance to the swimming area was full of dog poop, so many piles of poop, and barefoot children, along with the rest of the lake goes, were exposed to the dirty beach. The city needs to either not allow dogs on the beach area or anywhere near it, fine the people who are not picking up their pets poop, or employ someone to take and clean up the sandy area on a daily basis.
MoreThe lakes feel basically like a long pond with stagnant water. Lol it was a nice kayak float I guess but I wouldn't want to jump out while swimming. Its 75%full of this ferny type growth that is really hard to fish around. We caught a few small bass but has to hook. Couldn't tell if we were stuck in a weed or got a bite! The campground was quiet even with the atvs. Showers and bathrooms were clean but stayed busy since there was no water close to most camping. Not much of a camp store but there is a gas station just a few miles away if needed. They did have a lot of people in the swimming area but I wouldn't take my kids. It has a river environment ya know? With a lot of bad language and people hanging off their rafts with alcohol. Loud so not to inviting for a family. You can rent a canoe or kayak for a couple hours or all day but they don't open til 8am. Now if you are an early bird, and get to the water by 6-7? It's a peaceful ride :) for an ATV park it's not dirty and well maintained. If that's you pleasure there appear to be some great trails! Still had a relaxing weekend. Thanks
