Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead Zoo ·$

Deanna Rose was the name of a local police officer killed in the line-of-duty, and it is also the name given to this historic replica of a 19th century farmstead located in nearby Overland Park. On the farm, children can go on pony rides, feed baby goats, fish in the pond and even learn how to milk a cow.  However, the objective of this farm is to promote interactivity with not just farm animals, but also birds of prey, reptiles as well as learn about horticulture. There are also several gardens, a playground, crafts, a nature trail and horse drawn carriage rides. Admission is free Monday through Thursday, however there is a nominal 2USD charge on the weekends.

Went there with our 3 year old granddaughter, and she had a blast even though it was cool and misty. She loved the Pygmy goat petting zoo, the American Indian long house. And the ice cream was only $2.50!

We visited Deanna Rose on a Tuesday afternoon and even though it was a bit busy with end-of-the-year school field trips, our family of three still had a great time. Our one-year-old son loved walking around and exploring — it was the perfect way for him to burn off some energy. He especially enjoyed watching the animals, and his favorites were the baby goats. He also had fun checking out the teepee, the little ride-on tractors, and the toddler playground. We treated ourselves to some ice cream while we were there — it was very good and surprisingly cheap. Overall, this is a fun and affordable spot for families with young kids. We’ll definitely be back!

Decided to revisit after having so much fun last year. Wasn’t disappointed. Had a fun filled 2 1/2 hours, grandkids (5 and 7 year old) especially enjoyed fishing, ice cream and seeing the new baby piggies! It was warm, but plenty of chairs and places to sit between exhibit areas. Staff was friendly and helpful, prices really reasonable. All had a great time.

At 5 dollars a ticket it’s not expensive and you can bring in your own food. Kids love it. Everything inside costs a few dollars more but you can skip all that and still have a good time.
