Reviews
tripadvisorI don't often feel called to post reviews. Something has to be really special to move me to. Showstopping, you might say. The Verb is just that. I booked a four-night, five-day stay to catch one of my most beloved artist's stage shows at the nearby MGM Music Hall, which the hotel is conveniently within walking distance of. I was checked in by Phoenix. After traveling all day on my lonesome, I really appreciated how engaging and personable they were as they escorted me to my room and ran down the array of amenities (the record player and rainfall shower chief among my faves)--a much-needed welcome! The Backstage Trailer I was in came outfitted with not only everything advertised on the hotel's website, but some added comforts, as well--complimentry tea and coffee pods for the Nespresso machine, a drawer full of snacks, and a lovely little personal note, all courtesy of Claudia, the housekeeper (who, I must say, had also prepped the digs to a spotless clean and artfully folded the towels not unlike origami)--, setting the stage for me to enjoy myself to the fullest over the next several days. I put a record on (I wanna dance with my baby...), flopped onto the plush King bed, then did some unpacking before I indulged in a serving of killer potstickers and a drink at Hojoko, the adjoining restaurant. Sadly, I experienced a health crisis a short time later and had to leave prematurely. My deepest thanks to Mackenzie, one of the managers, who intervened after someone in my life was having trouble reaching me and contacted the hotel. Mackenzie, in turn, moved quickly to contact emergency services, which likely saved my life; she also personally repacked all of my belongings into my luggage, which I'd had to leave behind, and stored everything safely until I could claim it (including my wallet and a not-insubstantial amount of cash, all of which I was able to account for); additionally, she continued to communicate with me via email while I was hospitalized over the coming weeks, offering only warmth and understanding as we tied up loose ends. When I was feeling up to addressing the situation with my luggage, I called the hotel from the hospital and spoke with JD, who knowingly and patiently guided me through my use of Uber Courier for the first time. I still hadn't fully recovered, and so I very much appreciated how clearly he communicated and simplified all of the logistics for me. He was particularly knowledgeable about providing the proper instructons for the driver at both ends of the route, as the grounds of the hotel and the hospital were unfamiliar to me--a big weight off!Though I wound up spending only a brief time at The Verb, it was long enough to do a vibe check, and it's one I intend to more fully experience the first chance I get--as much for its expansive library of vinyls and year-round, temperature-controlled outdoor pool as its wonderful staff. The kindness, integrity, and professionalism that Claudia, JD, Mackenzie, and Phoenix all demonstrated is as much a draw to me as any of the hotel's luxe accommodations and amenities. I was treated with a disarming and unparalleled degree of respect, dignity, and compassion at a time that was very frightening for me. I can't say enough good things about these folks or The Verb! I'll be back, and I hope that all of my fellow rockstars will join me!
MoreThe people working here are especially lovely. Yoselin and Mirian greeted us at breakfast each morning with beautiful smiles and willingness to accommodate us. Additionally, Sam and McKenzie greeted us at the front desk and helped us figure out all the places we needed to go. The two complaints I have are 1) the booking pages need to make clear that there are NOT accommodations for those with mobility issues. So even if you are not officially disabled, you could be impeded by not having access to an elevator. 2) The HVAC provides heat only once they switch for the winter. We were visiting in the fall and the weather was not cool enough to have heat in the room. Great service. Cool vibes. Wonderful neighborhood. Lack of accessibility. And limited room temperature control.
