On Saturday, September 28, 2024, We were schedule to visit the American Flight Museum and the Combat Air Museum at Forbes Field just outside of Topeka, Kansas. As we pulled into the airport we came upon the Museum of the Kansas National Guard and decided to change our plans a bit. Absolutely super museum with two super docents. The museum has three major sections. The primary museum building, a secondary hangar type building, and the outdoor exhibit items. All of the outdoor items were in super shape, many were under sheltering canopies. This shows a lot of TLC for the exhibits. The outdoor signage is pretty good. I think I missed a couple and if I have errors in the videos, sorry, not an Army guy. Parking and admission are free, donations accepted. The gift shop area is nice we picked up another coffee mug for the collection. There are tanks, tracked artillery, armored tractors, self-propelled guns, airplanes, and helicopters outside. Inside is a mix of numerous evolutions of hostilities all topped by a rather fun depiction of MASH 4077. Child and adult friendly with limited hours. Check the homepage for hours. Thanks,Rex

We visited here as a stop on a road trip. Its on the airport so there are a number of confusing One Way roads to navigate. Parking and entry are free. Inside there are great exhibits showing the history of the National Guard as well as exhibits on other wars including The Civil War, The Two World Wars and Vietnam. There is a good 4077 MASH display too. Outside there are a number of vehicles and helicopters. One of the staff told us they were preparing to receive a Black Hawk helicopter soon. Very good museum

The museum has more than just national guard artifacts. It is packed with Civil War, Spanish-American War, WW I, WW II, Korean, Vietnam and Gulf war items of every kind. The museum is free which makes it even more amazing. James Naismith, the inventor of basketball was in the Kansas National Guard. I was shocked at just how much was in there. Top place in Topeka for military history.

Nice museum that really covers the Kansas NG with lots of models, documents, and artifacts. Good size collection of vehicles outside. For protection they have shed roofs over many of the and the supporting posts make it impossible to get nice pictures of the vehicles. The staff were outstanding at answering questions.

Exceptional staff, great displays inside and out. This is also the museum for 35th Infantry Division. One unique display, somehow this museum has the original TV set tent from series MASH
