We visited the Topeka Cemetery to visit my 3x great grandfather's grave. As we approached his headstone, we were thrilled to find that my 3x great grandmother was memorialized on the reverse side. Until then, we were unaware that she had a headstone anywhere. This cemetery is beautifully maintained and a peaceful place to visit, even if you don't have family buried here. My young children enjoyed walking among the headstones in the nicely manicured grounds. It's a quiet place. We would've loved to have taken a tour, but we enjoyed just spending time at my 3x great grandparents gravesite. If you enjoy historic cemeteries, this is a perfect place to visit while in Topeka. I'm grateful for the maintenance and love that's been put into it for the last 150 years, and I hope it continues for (at least) another 150.

This is one of the oldest cemeteries in Topeka. There are a lot of local historical figures buried here, even some above ground crypts. A must-see if you're into local history. Some local ghost tours make a stop here too.

If don't mind the company, you should enjoy the scenic views and history. This is an older cemetery but local volunteers help keep it from getting run down. Great place to take photos. Watch for tours occasionally if you want to get the most out of it!

This site gets an excellent rating because the place is so obviously historical and fascinating. Unfortunately, some areas have been vandalized throughout the years and that is distressing to see. Aside from that, it is an educational and beautiful place.
