tripadvisorA super day if you like to see animals! We did some behind the scenes experiences such as meeting Mars the 1 yr old Pygmy hippo and feeding the giraffes and white rhinos. Both of those were done really well, and Sidney with the hippo and Alex with the giraffes and rhinos were both fantastic and informative guides that enhanced the experiences. Definitely recommend! It was easy to see the entire park in a full day but we did not have any children to accommodate and that may impact your time and ability. Lots of opportunities to interact with animals- got to pet lemurs, kangaroos, and there’s also goats, rabbits, tortoises, and others for the kids to pet (or adults!). They have capybaras coming soon and we got to see it in passing when on the behind scenes. All staff was super friendly and seemed happy to be there and be helpful. Only downside was we declined the initial photo opportunity in front of the plant wall when entering the park. Unfortunately it was not explained to us that that initial photo generated the qr code that tagged you to all your other photos, so at the end of the day when we went to go look for our photos that had been taken throughout the day to purchase them there was none and no way to get them. so don’t miss out and get your picture taken when you enter the park on check in, it’s important and not just a regular picture!
MoreSuch a fun experience! Aside from the long lemur line, everything was well paced. We look forward to another visit in the future.
MoreThis is a bit on the pricey side but ABSOLUTELY and TOTALLY worth it! It was perfect for us. Not too big and lots of interaction. Every single staff member we encountered was kind, gracious, and helpful. My husband is disabled and in a power chair. They accommodated him to be able to go out to the giraffe and rhino encounters. I grew up loving and fascinated with giraffes and because of his last name, Rhino was his nickname and became his favorite animal. There were only a couple of places he couldn't access. I'm an animal freak and this place just made my top 3 list of favorite animal places stateside. They are doing great work for wildlife. Love. Love. Love.
MoreI did the Best Day Bundle: Otter and Sloth Experiences and Mars Behind-the-Scenes. I am not a “zoo person” but I have been watching this park on Facebook so drove 8 hours to visit. It was worth it and I felt like I got what I paid for. The staff was very friendly, the park was clean, the food was tasty, the animal enclosures were ethical and the animals looked well cared for, and I learned a lot during my “experiences.” Stacey was awesome (but I’m supposed to say something like “reasonably decent”) and Sydney was super informative about Mars. I highly recommend this experience. Oh, no joke - those cookies are fantastic!
MoreI had an incredible day at Tanganyika Wildlife Park! The animal experiences were fun and educational. I was so happy to meet Mars and see Milani, the two animals I have been following on Facebook. The staff was top notch too…they were fun, helpful and shared so much knowledge. I’d like to send a big thank you to Chloe for the Pygmy hippo and Rhino / Giraffe experiences. Also, I enjoyed Kamryn and Allie at Lemur island. They were so friendly! I love how the keepers always asked if there were any questions. I definitely recommend spending a day (or more!) at Tanganyika Wildlife Park!
