Established in 1972, the Mid-America All-Indian Center is a cultural center which aims to spread awareness and preserve the culture and heritage of American Indians. Born out of cultural differences and conflicts between the Indian and non-Indian Americans, the facility houses a museum, a Gallery of Nations in which special events are held and also a gift shop. The facility can be rented out for events. The center holds a host of Pow Wows in which Native and non-Native Americans come together to socialize. With cultural events spread throughout the year, the Mid-America All India Center has it's sights firmly set to effectively promote the Native American culture.

tripadvisorWe stopped at the Mid-America All-Indian Museum while staying in Wichita and were greeted by delightful and friendly staff. At the time of our visit there had just been a power outage but we were able to view the creation of the Keeper of the Plains and Native American dance displays in the large room. Returning later in the day we were able to see the museum and look at the beautiful artwork. Blackbear Bosin was an incredible artist and the man behind the iconic Keeper of the Plains sculpture. The museum is not overly large but it holds much information and interesting pieces of art. I am glad to have had the opportunity to visit the museum.
MoreWhen some of the other Wichita museums were closed (Tuesday), we found this museum and gave it a try. We didn't really have any expectations but expected to see artifacts and history of local Indian populations. The museum is really not much more than an art gallery featuring one primary artist. The art was nice but we thought there would be more artifacts. I might have rated lower but the staff were very nice.
MoreThe exhibits here are somewhat limited, but still would recommend visiting to learn about Blackbear Bosin who is the artist who created the Keeper of the Plains. Fascinating.
MoreWe visited this museum on June 6. There is free parking at the entrance of the museum. This museum uses information boards to provide information regarding the norms and values โโof the indigenous tribes. You will also find works of art by some of their artists. There is a tepee outside with explanations, but the site was closed due to vandalism.
MoreThis is a rather small, but well done museum. I especially enjoyed the Indian art work on display. There are many things there for children to do.
