Rodrigue Studio in the French Quarter is home to George Rodrigue's “blue-dog” art. This Louisiana born artist is a cult favorite and creates vivid masterpieces. The gallery is filled with paintings, prints, books and news on Rodrigue. You will find numerous “blue-dog” pop art paintings, as well as some of Rodrigues' other works. There are usually 40 and 60 paintings available at any one time, and the artist frequently stops by because he still has a home in Louisiana.

George Rodrigue Studios on Royal Street is great. If you are not familiar with his work, look it up. I have a couple of his artworks and if you want to see more, visit the Blue Dog Café in Lafayette, LA, awesome food and you see all his original works of the walls of the café.

Beautiful gallery with much more than the iconic Blue Dog, which you can't help but love. Paintings of Bayou life are breathtaking. The gallery attendant was pleasant and didn't mind my husband using the chair in front of her desk. Beautiful space - perfect for a gallery.

This studio is located on Royal St. George Rodrigue is known for his iconic blue dog. The dog is modeled after his own dog Tiffany. The studio is opened until 6. Wander in to see all the paintings, prints & of course the blue dog. You might notice several of these around the city. His style just makes me happy. There’s an awesome painted grand piano too!

One can project anything onto Blue Dog but what I mostly experience is happiness. No matter what setting the artist puts him in, he’s always a joy to see. Back in 1998, I first saw Blue Dog at a gallery in New York City and I have been in love with him ever since. I’ve bought his books for the kids and his calendars. I would love to buy a print but the prices are out of my reach. I throughly enjoyed nonetheless wandering through the Blue Dog gallery again on my second visit to NOLA as did my companions who where unfamiliar with him. If I could I would buy the large center piece with the 3 blue dogs in an ornate yellow lacquer frame. But at the asking price of $500k I’d have to sell my home!

The studio is a nice short activity to get away from the busy street. Several of the blue dog paintings are hung around the space, and there are some prints as well. Nice to see some of the prints that feature celebrities, while also showcasing some of the more lively pieces. The woman at the desk seemed a little off-putting and made us feel uncomfortable, but otherwise a nice little spot.
