The Ulrich Museum of Art was established in 1974 and is named after New York businessman Edwin A. Ulrich, who donated over 300 paintings by Frederick Judd Waugh to the museum. The museum has a striking appearance on the outside and houses two galleries. The Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection has over 70 statues. These include the works of eminent artists like Luis Jiménez, Henry Moore, Louise Nevelson and others. The museum provides free guided tours.

tripadvisorThe Ukrich is more of a gallery than a museum. It's small with revolving exhibits. The Miro mural is unique and there are some nice sculptures to see on the grounds.
MoreThe mosaic is quite unique and, for Miro lovers, a necessary work to view. The scale is quite impressive and, according to the museum website, was commissioned for this museum upon its founding. While the museum exhibits (in the art building) are interesting, the real jewels of the museum are placed on the university campus. They are many pieces of sculpture by important artists that one walks to and enjoys out of doors. Everything is free and parking in the neighborhood seems reasonable available. As a bonus there is a Frank Lloyd Wright designed building to visit on campus. In short, Wichita State Museum's art collection is remarkable, particularly for a relatively small school in the Midwest.
MoreThis gallery is so worth a frequent stop just to see what the students are creating at the college. Price is right. Parking is easy on weekends unless there is a basketball game. Sign up for emails if you're local just to see what new things are happening.
MoreThe ulrich is a nice college museum that blends different exhibits with some student work. Along with the campus sculptures it's a nice day out
MoreThe Ulrich is a small museum that features a beautiful Miro mosaic mural over the entrance, exhibition spaces on the first and second floors, and an extensive collection of sculptures installed throughout the WSU campus. I prefer small, focused exhibitions, so the Ulrich is a good fit to my museum style. I've only visited once so I can't comment yet on the quality of exhibitions over time, but I really enjoyed the Mullins exhibition - Mullins was a local artist (primarily prints) who was a curator at the Ulrich, and the exhibition is a celebration of his productive and varied career. I have yet to tour all of the 80+ sculptures on the campus, but I picked up a map and learned that there's an Ulrich Museum app with tours of the sculptures. I'll take those tours when I visit next!
