This bar originated more than 80 years ago. All those years are well etched in the patina of the bar counter and the cabinets behind the bar. Walking into this bar is like taking a step back in time. The bar is quite small. It has a capacity for about 50 people, yet has room for a pool table and two dart boards. This was once a neighborhood bar from a time when there was one of these bars every block or two. They didn't need to seat 200 people, because they served the neighbors that could walk the block or two needed to get a cold beer. California Bar has kept up with the times though. They have 8 beers on tap including craft beers. They also have a great selection in cans and bottles. They sell a limited selection of package alcohol and the prices are clearly marked so that you don't have to bother asking the price before buying. Everything is neatly displayed and well kept. The restrooms were clean. They have various specials throughout the week. While this place can get crowded in the evening, stop in some afternoon when its slow and peaceful and just imagine all the people that have enjoyed a drink here in the past.
