This is not a museum, but the displays were interesting. I had some research to do and the staff was friendly, helpful, and I was able to find the material I needed relatively quickly. The St, Charles Street Car would normally stop right in front of the building, on Tulane U. campus, but they are fixing the tracks, so one has to transfer to a bus. At Tulane, and next door to Loyola U., and across the street from Audubon Park, if you have any interest in the topic, you might stop in.

The Amistad Research Center has a marvelous collection of photographs and manuscripts pertaining mostly to African American history and civil rights. Papers in the collection include those from leaders in business, politics and the arts, as well as from laborers and farmers. Staff there are extremely knowledgable and helpful. The center also has small rotating exhibit space--definitely worth a visit! Located on the Tulane campus, just a few steps from the St. Charles Street Car stop across from Audubon park.
