Old has made a comeback in a big way this century. It's the height of sophistication for the home to be furnished with inlaid period furniture. The older it is, the better. Ornate, intricate, hand-crafted, and chiseled are the different kind of designs that appeal to the masses today. There are various stores that make dead ringer copies but nothing can replace the charm of the real McCoy. Imagine caressing the smooth, polished surface of a Beidermeier and realizing that the piece once graced a stately lord's mansion and now, you possess it.

tripadvisorJust wandering around seeing it there was anything I needed for my 1940's house. And there it was, sitting on the floor under a table. What I've been looking for over 4 years. A very large copper soup pot. This one had dents and a j'ne sais quoi life to it. It has history and a story to tell. Had to leave to catch a plane and no room in my suitcase. Just had to have this soup pot and Mr. Harris agreed to ship it to me. I adore it and look forward to creating soups or seafood boils with it. Now to figure out how to get the giant copper cauldron he has and where to put it. Lovely shop with all sorts of stunningly beautiful items for your home.
MoreRoyal Street is perhaps an unknown gem in the French Quarter with a group of upscale shops, galleries, and hotels. Among those shops is Harris Antiques, with a amazing collection of items that is just stunning.
MoreMr. Harris is a genuine, polite and gracious gentleman who knows about period furnishings. He seems to make every effort to be fair and forthright in his dealings. This is not to say the other Royal Street establishments are not. It's just that Mr. Harris makes you feel more at ease when you're spending a lot of money on old furniture. If you aren't an expert, it is extremely difficult to know what you are getting when dealing in this arena, so you have to rely on those such as Mr. Harris to lead you in the right direction. He is a very likable man, so hopefully he is.
MoreHarris is a great place to visit and purchase a focal piece. Lovely imports from Europe and the featured artist has amazing lighting. I believe I spoke to the owner or manager and he was very friendly and informative.
MoreA very nice antique place. It's well laid out and organized and lots to see. The place was clean, the staff is very nice and informative. Priced for the area.
