tripadvisorMy wife and I were attracted into the shop by their window display but we were overwhelmed by the pieces they had inside. SO many beautiful and precious objects are on display. I confess to being unable to afford the cost of many of the pieces we saw but the gallery managers were still willing to discuss what they had and what they could source for us. We promised that this would be our first port of call if we ever won the lottery and I mean it.If you love beautiful pieces, particularly Erté, then please visit this gallery and talk with the fine people in charge.
MoreMy father admired an Erte sculpture in the window & I had always liked his work, so we wandered into Martin Lawrence Galleries at 433 Royal St. in NOLA. We were met by Sergio Diaz, the Senior Acquisitions Advisor for the Gallery. I think he could tell we both knew a bit about art and really appreciated fine work. They carry Erte, Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, and Chagall pieces, amongst others artists as well. Sergio is VERY knowledgeable about the gallery's holdings, and passionate about art. The gallery's prices range from relatively inexpensive Erte prints under $600 to works worth many thousands. The Erte sculptures alone are worth a visit and the Matisse works are sublime. I even gained a deeper appreciation for the emotions and motivations expressed in Picasso's work on display there. Sergio's respectful and friendly treatment of us made the experience extremely enjoyable and I would highly recommend this Gallery. As a result, we felt more at ease exploring lovely art in other galleries in New Orleans as well. Don't use your camera. As is common for such fine works on display, photos are strictly prohibited. Art is an experience in the eye and heart of the beholder. Take that (or a piece for sale) with you instead.....
