Friends of ours, frequent customers of this elegant gallery, told us to check it out several years ago, although undoubtedly they knew we would likely never be able to effort buying one of these beautiful, colorful, New Orleans-themed paintings, besides would not have enough space in our house for them. But, we go back there every time we are in NOLA anyway just to enjoy looking at these fine works of art.

I will admit I am biased. In 2005 my family came to NOLA for a convention - we stayed in a big hotel by the water and on our concierge floor was a painting where the moon came alive - the lines of the building moved within the painting and I told my husband then - I want one. In 2011 we came back as a surprise for my birthday - My husband had spoken with the gallery and had picked 2 originals out for me to pick from ... I walked out with 2 of his most famous on Glicee and an original. Everyone who walks through my doors loves the colors, the light coming from inside the structure, how he captures a place I want to visit over and over again. We absolutely love his work ... pick something up a poster, his book, a glicee or an original - you will be happy you did. Im partial to the night schemes, the crescent moons, yellow/orange light from from the wondow above with the classic NOLA architecture.

We loved the artist's renditions of the city. Pictures are bright, vibrant and give the feeling of life. We'd love sometime to be able to bring some home. The gentleman running the store is very helpful and loves to 'sell' the city.

This is a wonderful gallery to visit. We were trolling the antique shops, dazzled by the chandeliers, when we were dazzled by the windows of this gallery. If there was any artist who evokes a sense of place that is New Orleans, this guy is it. I ended up with a print for the music room (jaune flyer) in our house, and one for my jazz loving husband's mancave, Hippie that he is, he likes the psychadelic feel of the piece as much as the locale pictured. First time I've ever bought art on the fly, but wow! I am happy to report that even my husband likes his surprise gift. The originals were out of my price range, but if I coulda, I woulda. My companions included a professional illustrator and my teen-aged daughter. Listening to them analyze the artistic merits of Michalopoulos's work was one of the highlights of my trip. I also have to say, as a dog lover, I coveted some of the dog work as well. Too bad they weren't available as reproductions!!!
