Excellent service, live music and superb atmosphere. This place is what I expected New Orleans to be. Was so glad we were told about it, as bourbon st was just full of neon signs and college kid bars until we went in here.

The music brought us in and the hospitality is why we stayed. Bartenders were attentive, the jazz band took requests and their sound was excellent!

Genuine jazz bar experience. Smaller venue with various jazz groups playing daily. You can be very close to the stage, yet the music is not overpowering. The expectation is to order a drink per set and to tip the musicians as they are not paid by Fritzel’s. We lucked out and. We’re there for the last set of one group and the first set of another. The groups were watched seemed to by having fun performing and we enjoyed seeing them. The wait staff is good and don’t interfere with your enjoyment of the show. Fritzel’s doesn’t serve food and drinks aren’t watered down, so don’t come on an empty stomach.

We couldnt get near the place on a Friday night and Bourbon Street of a night is a hell hole.We were walking passed there during the week and there were only about 10 people in there. It was a zillion times better and seemed more authentic then of a nighttime. We a great singer and piano player called Richard Scott. Was good to watch and get out of the heat.(The diet coke/ice cubes tasted like bleach for some reason - the same as the bar a few doors down. Not sure what that was about.)
