tripadvisorMy wife and I, and another couple stayed for three nights during Mardi Gras. What a truly wonderful hotel! The hotel is charming and unique, and the location is fantastic. Near the Garden District and one block from St. Charles Ave. Loved the morning coffee! Would highly recommend for a stay in New Orleans!
MoreOur little family stayed here last week & had a delightful stay! The room we stayed in was beautiful, clean, & quiet -- we loved the sense of seclusion. The staff was friendly, helpful, & very attuned to our needs (ex: setting up a pack-n-play for our 2 year old, helping carry luggage, advice on kid-friendly activities) on what seemed to be a very busy weekend. We enjoyed having our coffee & pastries in the courtyard to start the day, then a nightcap from the bar in the evening. The bistro across the street was delicious & convenient for a quick bite or latte. We truly felt like we were staying with friends! Looking forward to our next stay at the Henry Howard!

MoreThe photos make this inn look amazing. 6 friends stayed here for the New Orleans Book Festival. After seeing several of their rooms, I could see that some were far more attractive and comfortable than others, but all of us were charged over $500. For a $500 per night per room, we expected far far better. Had I been charged $300, I’d be a bit more understanding. Let me explain. The rooms near the front of the hotel have high ceilings, spacious seating areas, and are beautiful. Those of us in the “back half” of the inn had far less attractive rooms, uncomfortable seating areas, tiny bathrooms, and one small mirror, so hard for two women to get ready in the morning. Same price. Huh. Many stairs to negotiate - the elevator was frightful. The front porch and the location were great, comfortable bed, tasty coffee, but for $500+, I had higher expectations for the kind of room we’d have. Icing on the cake (kick in the rear) was that we had to pay $3 per bottle for purified water to drink. Being immune-compromised, I needed safe water. At $500+ per night for our room, it’s typical for nice inns to offer at least 2 complimentary bottles of water. Not here, so I felt nickeled and dimed while my health need was not accommodated. I so wanted to love this spot. A room like those in the photos and two bottles of water would have met the need. A back unattractive room, loud each morning with neighboring construction, absolutely did not. I’m disappointed.
MoreThis was a wonderful hotel in a beautiful area, very close to the St Charles Street Car and bus 91. The staff was helpful and friendly and they served good coffee and cinnamon rolls each morning.
