tripadvisorAs I told you in April of last year, Jim Russell's has shut down, so I cannot give you any more updates on it. I wish you had some way of discontinuing contacts, although I miss it a lot and have very pleasant memories of it.
MoreBecause Jim Russell's has shut down, as I told you at Trip Advisor earlier, I am no longer able to state that I am interested in it. I wish I could be.
MoreThis store was likely great in its day. However, what i saw was filthy (soup cans, old garbage in plain sight). Ceiling was dropping on the records and moisture was obviously damaging the records, yet it was obvious there was little effort to amend. Moldy faded moisture damaged magazines from 15 years ago were for sale at cover price. It was like a svene from Hoarders. I LOVE and collect records (we have a couple thousand), and I just felt awful about how this store was kept. Funky is always great. Reasonbly clean is always good. This was just disgusting. The store owner was smoking the whole time, telling me that she needed someone to fome up with $40 for the phone bill. Sad to see any store close.
MoreI finally went to Jim Russell's the other day and found that it had closed indeed. Most regrettable! But stores of this type are having a hard time, given the frequency of ordering through the Internet and mail which I do not disapprove of. But I also point to the fact that Denise Russell, who ran the store before it closed, told me that people are not coming to my store to buy anything because they cannot afford it due to the bad economy as I then recorded in my book ONE YEAR - AND BEYOND.
MoreI went to Jim Russell's the other day, and Denise told me sadly that the shop was about to close (which it did). I will not be alone in missing it!
