Cite des Artes is used for many different types of venues. Stage plays are popular here. Interaction with audience very good due to size of theater.

I have enjoyed every trip to this venue. I have seen plays and watched bands perform. The atmosphere is very nice. It is a great place to meet people and enjoy a drink or two!

We attended a performance of the Gifted and Talented students from Lafayette Parish at this venue today. There were several positives and negatives, but overall this was a very pleasant afternoon. The way people entered the auditorium area was Hike and Run meaning lift your dress and run and hope to get a good seat. It would have been nice if they had some sort of reserved seating. There were people everywhere, including the floor and sitting in the aisles. I'm sure the fire marshall would have loved to have seen the number of people that were in this small space. As you walked in they requested five dollars from everyone. I would have preferred they just charge $5 and get it over with. They should have also sold just the number of seats they had, but they packed people into every space possible. Now for the positive.... The children were amazing. These are talented children, but the laid back manner in which the man who leads this program allows the students to find their own abilities and then enhances them is wonderful. He guides more than teaches, allowing the students to make art the old fashioned way... by allowing it to come from the heart. Every child who performed today was exceptions, some more than others, but I will make sure that next year I will be at this concert again. I just wish they would move it to a larger venue, sell tickets, and assign seats.
