tripadvisorThe lake is pretty, the sites are either uphill on one side or a pull through on the water side that is in kind of a dip. The roads are crumbly and honestly, I wouldn’t use the bathroom as it is very old and not taken care of. The site it is quiet and spacious. It was electric only. We stayed in our 17 foot camper.
MoreI've been going to this lake for at least 20+ years and not only today but its getting crazy at this point I've have spent 160$ to camp on a holiday, and no showers half way decent bathrooms for what you pay but today I was met with a park ranger just because she felt like informing rules on this day my kids left sad because she felt like doing her job this day not any other day cause just the day before we swam for 4 hours and never were told about life jackets but this place used to be one of our go to's but its getting way to expensive for the same seen with no up grades for the CAMPERS but they have up grades for the RV side but any who do better for the price we have to pay
MoreThe day use fee is $10 per vehicle, but they waived it for us, as we were tourists, who wanted to, only, see the park, not use it. Lots going on here, especially on a beautiful warm day (5/23). Everything was very clean, no plastic bottles or bags, no food containers, no overflowing trash cans. There were families picnicking, boating, swimming (there are 3 sandy beach areas), kayaking, fishing, and playing games on the grass. Surprisingly, it did not seem at all crowded.
MoreWe learned the first day that we'd made a mistake after finding 48 ticks, adult and tiny ones, crawling on or already sucking on us. I understand this is nature, but lone star ticks have some of the worst health side effects and that lathe a number is inexcusable. We'd made the mistake of sitting on a blanket on the ground, but understand that we've camped numerous times before and never had this happen. The man at the gate was rude when we checked in, telling us to hurry because he wanted to go home. We got there 30 minutes before the gate closed, so I don't understand his rush, but regardless, he was extremely rude.We were also kept awake past midnight by loud music that neither the camp hosts nor the police patrolling the lake cared to stop. Kids and dogs walked through our campsite repeatedly, which made our dog bark from inside, and a creepy man kept walking by with a grin in his face, looking inside our open door, for some odd reason.I'll never camp there again. I was absolutely disappointed and no one seemed to care.
MorePretty lake no matter which side. Walked around the memorial, which was interesting. Drove around more of the lake this time.
