The scenic trail (drive or walk) was amazing! The whole thing is full of CCC barrier fence. The top pavilion is CCC and the playground is OG 1970’s style badassery. Long sections of slate or rock that I thought was parking lot, natural rock steps, overlook the city. Cedar. Labled bushes and trees. Dog was happy. No camping. Day use only. Can’t believe I didn’t stop before. SO glad I did on the way outta town. Will be back!

It is free and has a drive that goes up a hill and along the side with a view. We were passing through Big Spring and stopped for lunch then drove up here. After the flat of Texas it’s nice to see a hill. You can see far because it’s so flat but it’s winter so very brown. There are toilets but not super clean or well maintained. The walking path appears to be adjacent the road with the cars at least in parts. It has some decent views. If you’re here and gave time it’s worth checking out but is definitely not a destination location.

Very interesting history, well presented. The Big Spring was the main source of water for the railroads, and travelers between El Paso and Dallas. Mammoths and sabre-tooth tigers, Comanches, cowboys and oilmen settled nearby.

Great vistas overlooking Big Spring and neighboring areas. Access to park is free and is for day use only. There are great trails through typical Texas terrain, scenic overlooks, and picnic areas with grills - one with a play ground for kids. This park is another great product of the CCC in the 1930s. The Headquarters was shut down and seems to be undergoing an interior renovation.

We visited here while in big Spring. It was a nice small park with a great view of the city and surrounding area. A lot of cactus , scrub brush and rocks. It’s like a 2 mile walk around the park road. The best part of the park is the views
