Waste of time, gas, and energy, It’s not a park. It’s not a playground. It’s a pit spot. No structure but that dino you see in every picture. False advertisement.Very Misleading.

I am happy that my town was the source for many dinosaur bones. I was much happier when we were allowed to dig up bones ourselves. Now they have pretty metal signs and some dinosaur statues. You can see everything the park has to offer by looking at the pictures on the website. I am glad I collected some fossils when it was still allowed.

We have visited this dig before. This time we were lucky enough to arrive at the site just as a school group was leaving. Because of the school visitors, some of the staff were on hand to tell us something about the history of the site. And the guy in charge was nice enough to give each of us a small piece of Maryland petrified wood. We also enjoyed the casts of dinosaur bones and the representation of an enormous egg with a baby dinosaur hatching out. There’s a lot of information on site that you can read. It was sad to find out that dinosaurs lay eggs and leave them to fend for themselves---so that few of the babies survived. But there were so many of them that the species continued---until the big extinction. You can’t actually get into the dig site except on two Saturdays a month. Check the schedule if you want to dig with the paleontologists.

This is a small park on a road that runs through an industrial area. The first thing you need to know is that if, you want to dig fossils (under ranger supervision), it’s open only on the first and third Saturdays of the month from 12:00 to 4:00. Otherwise, you can look through the fence at a dirt hillside. But there are interesting sculptures of dinosaur bones outside the fence, plus restrooms. And you can peer through the fence poles at a colorful mural showing what the area looked like when the dinosaurs lived there.

The name kind of sucks you in, but there is nothing special or really anything to do with dinosaurs it is just a small park
