I booked and paid for a room with two queen size beds for five people. One being an infant that sleeps with his mom and . When we arrived sadly at almost 10 PM, they gave us a very tiny room with one queen size bed. They had no rollaway beds so that I didn’t have to sleep on the floor. But, sleep on the floor I did with my two-year-old grandson. That was last night, and I am still very upset. The hotel offered us absolutely nothing. No refund, which iswhat I asked for so I could get a hotel with two beds. They gave us nothing. And it wasn’t even up-to-date or clean and pool was ice cold! The breakfast wasn’t even great. I have nothing good to say about this place. I have two kids that live in Richmond, and I will never ever ever ever stay at this Hampton Inn again. Maybe I will never ever ever stay at any Hampton Inn again. Just upgrade to the Hilton or Marriott.

Picked this as an overnight stop while heading north for the summer. This Hampton is very dated. The rooms are quite worn and the HVAC system doesn’t seem to work properly, running constantly regardless of what’s done on the actual thermostat. It’s also odd that there is a daily parking fee - just add it to the room rate please. I would not pick this Hampton for a future stop. There are plenty of newer, more updated options long the way.

The only reason I am not giving this place 1 star is because they did have a good breakfast with a wide variety of selections. Here is what it really is like: The heating/cooling system is falling apart and the fan remained on constantly blowing warm air from outside. It was 76 degrees in the room. When I reported it to the desk clerk that it did not work even after I turned the wall thermostat to 65 degrees, she said she would look at it. We went to supper and when we returned all she had done was set the thermostat to 56 degrees. Of course it did nothing, The fan ran all night, regardless what we tried, and it was noisy. Traffic also was noisy most of the night. There was no notice on the Web site when we reserved that we had to pay for parking. There is notice at the door when you arrive, however, and you must use your cell phone if you have one to pay for it. (This country MUST stop believing we all carry cell phones). The toilet was so low it might as well have been non-existent. There also was only luke-warm water, both the night we arrived and the next morning. There were no USB ports and WiFi speed was the usual ultra-low for the Hilton chain.

On most of our trips, we stay over night in Richmond after landing, because the flights usually get back so late, and we live 1-1/2 hours from the airport. Usually we stay at one of the hotels right by the airport. On this trip, we decided to try something different, and chose this Hampton about 20 minutes away from the airport. Wrong choice. We checked in about 1am, and headed straight for the room. It was a room with 2 queens. The mattress on one bed I would rate as bad, because of how soft it was. The other mattress was worse and was broken down so badly that my wife just kind of sank into the middle of it. One thing I wasn't aware of, but learned on this night...there is a lot of traffic on Commerce Road late at night, and you're going to hear it all. The room seemed to be pretty clean....until I saw and killed a cockroach in the tub area during a middle of the night bathroom break. Breakfast was okay. This won't be on our list of hotels for future trips out of RIC.

Do not stay here. The location is just off of the highway, but the area is very industrial and there is nothing around the hotel. The rooms are small, old and have that need to open a window smell about them. My biggest issue was I was billed twice after I cancelled the room. There are many other options in the Richmond area. Do not stay here.
