FirstBuild is the product of a partnership between GE Appliances and Local Motors, and the goal is to create a whole new manufacturing model for the appliance industry. The FirstBuild Community is host to engineers, industrial designers, makers, hackers, scientists and early adopters who share ideas, collaborate on projects and contribute to challenges. FirstBuild's Microfactory takes those designs and manufactures them into real products, for sale in its retail space. This mind-to-market-to-home model will pioneer the future for inventing, building and bringing the next generation of major appliances to the world.
