tripadvisorThis is where we had lunch with the family. While this huge suburb has exploded with growth in the past 2 decades, it has maintained its historic downtown and that is where we were. Lots of old buildings from the early 20th Century that date when this was the rail center and county seat. Now lots of good restaurant and unique stores. Parking is a challenge in hot weather.
MoreThis is the most pedestrian-friendly place in town,, so park your car and take a stroll. Some old buildings to admire, but also some cafes, bars and restaurants for you to have a drink or some food.
MoreI would love to come back here and stay several days, as there is so much to see in the downtown area. It seems so pet-friendly, with many of the businesses setting out water bowls for the dogs. Parking is free, plus a shuttle can take you thru the downtown area. Look for the free parking garages, parking lots, and of course streetside parking (I recommend the garage). We loved the ambience here. You can download the Visit McKinney app to get information on self-guided tours and historical things to see in the area.
MoreIf you are looking for quaint shops this is not the place to go. The ratio is 10 restaurants to 1 small shop. Mostly the shopkeepers ignored the customers. The two best places was the Cookie store and the axe throwing place. If you are hungry go to Hutchins BBQ. Very disappointed.
MoreLots to do, great comics shop and candy store. Plenty of good restaurants and watering holes. Burgers galore!!!!!!!!!
