tripadvisorWe attended to be entertained, but were bored and angered by this liberal lecture on discrimination. Funny, but You don't act like a Negro was not entertaining and very boring. My wife and I have enjoyed Theatre Three for decades, but this was the worst production we have ever seen!! Sad to see the Quadrangle and the Theatre in poor physical condition. Several empty buildings, where the Tenants have moved out of the Quadrangle. Not sure why a prime location like this has deteriorated, but it is in poor condition!! Unless something changes, we will not be returning.
MoreWhen it comes to food, I love to find places where the chefs like to eat. Delicious isn't necessarily expensive or fancy, but it is a memorable sensory experience. The best theatre productions can be described the same way - instead of feeding your belly...they feed your soul. Foxfire at Theatre 3 is a tour de force! It's rich in humor and warmth and relationship. Following the huge success of Once earlier this season, this production is also hits a home run. Carve the time and treat yourself!
MoreMy teen daughter and I recently attended a spectacular performance of I Love You You're Perfect, Now Change at Theatre Too - which is a tiny theatre in the basement of Theatre Three. We loved everything about it! This theatre is conveniently located in the Quadrangle - a collection of cute shops and eating establishments. There are only about 50 seats in the Theatre Too section. Bathrooms are convenient and light refreshments are available at a decent price. Staff is very attentive and friendly. As for the show - it is hilarious!!! This is a really fun musical comedy played by just four actors - two guys and two gals - who are really, really talented in both singing and acting. The live piano accompaniment is also great. It made for a really fun night.
MoreTheatre 3 is the 2nd oldest theatre company in Dallas, and the only one who is in the round all the time. An intimate 250 seat theatre it gives audiences a very different experience from large proscenium stages where the actors are in the distance and separated. It is not unusual for an actor to show up in the audience, thus making their shows truly immersive. They produce a wide range of shows, from comedies, to classics to musicals and do it very well. They do keep the theatre cool, but they have free blankets to use if you're chilly (and beer and wine). I'm a season ticket holder and eagerly await each production. I always bring guests to these performances and they are continually wowed by the power of proximity and the quality of the work.
MoreMy husband and I have watched two performances at Theatre Three and both times we have had an enjoyable experience. Most recently we watched I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change and I absolutely loved the witty musical about relationships. The theatre itself is small and lends itself to an intimate performance with occasional audience participation. Refreshments are available during the show, including wine and beer. I will continue to visit this longstanding Dallas theatre.
