Dallas' historic trolley system transports locals and visitors along its everyday route from downtown to uptown McKinney Avenue, all year round. Workers discovered the original trolley tracks under layers of asphalt and concrete in 1983, and today five authentic streetcars use those restored lines, preserving a piece of Dallas history. Rides are free (except charters). In the future, the city plans to extend the tracks to run farther south into the West End Historic District. Current stops include the Dallas Museum of Art and Hard Rock Cafe. The trolleys can be chartered for private events, including birthday parties and wedding receptions.

tripadvisorSadly we didn't get much of a ride and had to walk back to hotel as the only operating trolley broke down. The other trolley was broken as well - which seemed like it had been broken for a while... Hopefully they can be more proactive and not leave ppl stranded.
MoreIt was not what you might call reliable or on-time transport but but take it for what it was ,a tram ride on a historic trolley through a pleasant part of Dallas Uptown. The trams were old, the driver older than most but very pleasant and the trip back in history.
MoreSuch a cool experience to get to ride on the trolley and see the city at a slower pace. This trolley driver is amazing! She is a one stop shop. Drives the trolley through traffic, helps provide guidance to those riding, stops for passengers to get on and off, opens the doors at the front, middle and sides, uses a hand-held stop sign to ensure passengers can exit safety! All with a smile and courteousness that is contagious! The M-line trolley is free and survives off of donations.
MoreI am a fan of trolleys, so when I was told that there is a vintage trolley line right in the heart of Dallas, I told my wife we had to do it. It was a great hour-ish ride. You are able to go to their site or scan a QR code to see when the next trolley is coming to the stop you are at as well as see its location in real time. It was a great way to see so many neighborhoods, bars, restaurants and shops before figuring out where to go. My only piece of criticism is I wish there was a narration recording to let you know the different stops, some highlights of specific areas on the route and that they would use the turntable to actually turn the trolley around. Other than that, it is a great and free way to see a part of Dallas and would be a great thing for a group of any age!
MoreThe 1 hour circuit trolley ride slowed us down to pay attention to the downtown Dallas area that we would otherwise speed by in a car. It is free, although donations are recommended. Unlike other reviewers’ comments, the window-climate-controlled-trolley we rode did not have reversible seats nor did the trolley conductors make any announcements (even to explain a few minutes’ technical stop). The steps leading into the trolley are very steep.
