What an absolutely beautiful water tower that was built in 1873. I have never seen anythig like it. You can tell it was built for and by the wealthy. It is right in the middle of a lot of very large and beautiful homes built back in the late 1800's early 1900's. Its a beautiful drive around the homes and water tower. We saw several people walking and biking in the area.

During our stay in Milwaukee, we drove up the 32 heading to the North Point Lighthouse when we stopped at the eye catching Victorian Gothic style North Point Water Tower. Apparently, the tower was the first public waterworks in use from 1874. For such a purpose it is an extraordinary ornate building design and must have cost quite a sum of money to build. Worth a look.

We went by the water tower and noticed its resemblance to the Chicago Water Tower. Turns out this was the third water tower built after Philadelphia and Chicago. The tower actually just covers a big pipe that is used to relieve pressure.

Very nice water tower. Looks fantastic. Very tall structure. Free to gander. Not far from Lake Michigan.
