St. Patrick Cathedral Catholic Church ·$

This building, designed by James J. Kane in the Gothic Revival style, has been in use since its completion in 1892. It features stunning hand-painted stained glass windows, which came over from Munich the year of the church's dedication. The church's bell was cast in 1889. Though damaged by the recent tornadoes that ripped through much of downtown Fort Worth, St. Patrick Cathedral still holds mass twice daily for the faithful. It was entered into the National Register of Historic Places in 1908.

When you open the door, you can feel the history of this church! Right across from the cathedral is the convention center, which replaced Hell's Half Acre. This was a place of brothels, saloons, and gunfights as portrayed in 1883, a tale of the Old West.Since the cathedral was built in the 1880's, this was an answer to all the evil across the street, what you might say, in your face! Jesus came to confront evil and won the fight. Inside, are beautiful 12 statues of Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and various saints, which are not idols but remembrance of what they looked like, people who we should emulate. Stain glass windows are abundant showing various Biblical people and occasions. I love going there and seeing all this, along with breathing in the spirit of Christ and all that that brings. I hope you enjoy it also.

My cousin got married here in April and it was such a lovely service. This historic Catholic church has the most beautiful architecture and lovely stained glass windows. There was plenty of room to social distance as they had every other pew roped off for safety.

We always attend Mass when we travel. A Cathedral is always a bonus and it was by our hotel. The Blessed Mother with lighting above Her head is the most outstanding view of our Blessed Mother. Another bonus was The Texas State Men Choir was there, swept my heart away.
