10 Caddy's all in a roow.
Cadillac Ranch Landmark ·$

Built by local millionaire/philanthropist Stanley Marsh III, Cadillac Ranch is easily one of Texas' most recognizable attractions. Eleven rusted, gutted-out Cadillacs are lined up and photogenically planted hood-first in the dirt. Unlike the pyramids, Stonehenge and other cultural landmarks, visitors are encouraged to bring spray paint and let loose on this monument. Every visitor to Amarillo should experience Caddy Ranch at least once.

This is the unique attraction you expected. It right on the I 40 South frontage road west of downtown. It was a short walk from parking to the actual Cadillacs. Probably most surprising was the thickness of the paint on the cars! There were wheel hubs with at least 6 inches of dry paint on them! Paint is for sale on site. There are many partially used cans already down by the cars, so probably no need to buy more. There was no signage, so use Google Maps or similar to find it. If you can spare 30 minutes on your drive through Amarillo, it is worth the stop.

This location is easy on easy off the 40. The Cadillac Ranch is free. It would only take you five or 10 minutes to check it out and take some pictures. There is a vendor on site that sells snacks and spray paint for your convenience. The spray paint is an average size spray can that he sells for eight dollars. It’s fun to leave your Mark on the Cadillacs as these cars are spray painted as well as the road and retaining wall.

This is a Texas Tradition. We went to Walmart before hand and bought spray paint because it was so much cheaper. The cars are getting old and unfortunately they are starting to fall apart but this was a fun activity for kids. We really enjoyed it. It is windy so be careful when painting. I think the crowd size will vary greatly and that will change the time there but we were there about 30 minutes painting and about an hour in total including walking and parking. They had really cool souvenirs that were reasonably priced.

It's a bunch of old cars, stuck in the ground, in a dirty trashy field. Yet, we had a great time painting the cars. Don't spend too much time on your artwork....it will be gone by the end of the day. Haha. Buy a souvenir from the trailer at the entrance. This place is mainly a photo opp.
