tripadvisorI am going to start with the complaint, my mother & I use ADA medical scooters. We like to ride around the park & get our fresh air. We've taken our scooters to numerous other Corp Parks & private parks with no issues. We were stopped & told by one of the park hosts that we weren't allowed to ride our golf carts. I told the guy these weren't golf carts, they are ADA medical scooters. He told us that they would need to be certified. After a short back & forth, he walked away & we rode back to our RV site. My husband went up to the front gate office & the guy abruptly changed his tune & said he never told us we couldn't ride them, but he was just looking out for our safety. And what is crazy, it does state clearly in their rules No golf carts allowed, but not even an hour later a golf cart with 4 people goes by & rides all over the park. He never stopped them. I believe he needs to reread the Texas ADA laws for medical disability scooters. Other than a rude park host, we enjoyed a very nice view & quiet camping visit. Most sites are quite uneven & do have many trip hazards so beware.
MoreWe are new to Texas. Love the state. We went to McCown Valley Park for the first time today. It is a lovely park. The water of Lake Whitney was clean. It did appear that there was separate beach areas with picnic area. The beach area we stopped at, however, was full of trash. There were pop and beer cans strewn over the beach. We did not have trash bags big enough to clean it Up! We will most likely to back but will put more trash bags in our car to pick up trash others shamefully did not.
MoreWe full time in our RV and love this park! It's affordable, clean, has awesome views, the sites are large and have fire rings, grills, covered tables and plenty of parking. Great access to the water too!
MoreThis park was old and needs work on the pads, they were obviously for small campers. Otherwise it was a well maintained campground and most importantly it was close to the school where the track meet was held.
MoreThis park has a good boat ramp and several nice campsites from tent only to 50 amp RV sites. Be careful selecting the RV sites as many are short and unlevel.
